This Weekend: The Great ResistDance!

Every month Windsor gets together for a larger-than-usual protest down at the Great Canadian Flag on Windsor’s riverfront. This month, in the spirit of summertime (and to celebrate the medical tyrants temporarily lengthening the leash they’ve placed on the public before cold & flu season returns) we’re making it a party!

Here’s what you can look forward to this June 26th, at 2pm, at the Great Canadian Flag:

Music — We’ll be blasting freedom-friendly tunes from about 2-3pm, with some live singing too.
Snax — Chips, pop and water will be available. Requested donation of $1 per item (optional).
Prizes for Protest Signs — The three best protest signs will each be given a $20 gift certificate for a local diner. We’d love to take your photo, too!
Druthers Delivery Draw — One of our Druthers sub-distributors donated a $25 Tim Horton’s gift card. This will be given to one of our Druthers deliverers in a draw. Currie will draw names until she calls on someone who is present to claim the prize, so don’t miss it! <3

Basic Schedule for the Day:

2 pm: We get the party started! Music, dancing, refreshments, schmoozing in the sun, hugs and handshakes at our leisure. Bring sunscreen!
3 pm: Jessica will sing for us, before a few short speeches, and prize giveaways.
3:30 pm: We march! Route: Ouellette Avenue to the Health Unit and back. *
4:30 pm: Return to the Flag. More hangouts and an open mic/megaphone.

We can’t wait to see Windsor’s beautiful smiling faces!

* Other routes have been on the table, but none so far seem to have have the same visibility and safety as the usual one. But we recognize the value in shaking things up and are open to suggestions.

Don’t do it at the flag. Do it on the street at Ouellette and Wyandotte and block off traffic so we get the attention we deserve

The attention we deserve? I don’t really view attention as a personal reward. Attention is a resource to be used for a purpose. The message needs to get out, but making people angry — the same people we’re trying to inform — is counter-productive, I think. That said, I definitely see the value in seeking visibility for the message.

That would be negative attention you would get. Is that what you meant by saying that’s the kind of attention you deserve? I’m guessing not. Be gracious. Show class. No need to be jerks.
